Overview

The Physicians and Medical Practitioners Asthma Management Education (PMAME) initiative by the Amaka Chiwuike-Uba Foundation (ACUF) is a professional development program aimed at improving the capacity of healthcare professionals in the diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care of individuals living with asthma.

By providing up-to-date, evidence-based education—including practical tools such as spirometry training—PMAME supports healthcare providers to deliver more effective, patient-centered asthma care in clinical and community settings.

Objectives

  • To increase clinical knowledge and skills in asthma diagnosis and treatment
  • To improve the use of diagnostic tools, especially spirometry
  • To incorporate patient-centered approaches and consumer perspectives into asthma care
  • To update medical practitioners on the latest global and local asthma management guidelines
  • To reduce misdiagnosis and under-treatment of asthma in health facilities
