The Schools’ Education and Training Workshops on Asthma Management is an initiative of the Amaka Chiwuike-Uba Foundation (ACUF) designed to improve asthma awareness and care within educational institutions. This school-based program trains students, teachers, school nurses, and support staff on how to recognize, respond to, and manage asthma symptoms effectively—ensuring that children with asthma are
supported, safe, and able to thrive in school environments.
The program also advocates for the development of asthma-friendly policies and healthier indoor environments in schools.
To educate school communities about asthma, its triggers, symptoms, and emergency response
To train school staff on the use of asthma medication and inhaler techniques
To empower students with asthma to manage their condition and advocate for themselves
To improve indoor air quality and reduce asthma triggers in school facilities
To strengthen policy frameworks for asthma care in school health programs
Trained over 5,000 students, teachers, and school staff in asthma awareness and management
Increased medication accessibility for students during school hours
Helped schools develop asthma action plans and response protocols
Improved student attendance and classroom performance among children with asthma
